"I started my homeowners policy through Connie Slater's State Farm office in 2016, shortly after separating from the military. For most of the last ten years I was satisfied — the office seemed to understand what I needed and took care of me.

That changed this year. After filing a hail damage claim, I received a letter stating my policy would not be renewed and that I was being dropped by State Farm. In ten years I filed a total of two hail claims, several years apart. I called the office to confirm the letter was accurate and was told that State Farm is "cracking down" on claims, and that two claims within five years now results in cancellation.

I'm a disabled veteran in Colorado, where hail is a fact of life. Being dropped after a decade of on-time premiums, for using the coverage I paid for, is hard to accept. When I called to ask about it, the staff were rude and argumentative rather than willing to explain anything.

If you're shopping for homeowners insurance, I'd look elsewhere."
